Recently in response to rising customer demand for flexible out-of-hours training, the team has expanded further to readily accommodate this developing need.

Loiza Miltiades

DHL Training Solutions is managed by Loiza Miltiades’; an experienced training professional who has worked for large blue chip organisations such as Intercontinental Hotels, Tie Rack, Hilton Hotels and Nokia and implemented and developed training initiatives around the world. She has run her own business which she believes was a vital insight to the importance of effective Learning &Development (L&D) programmes and the challenges of keeping a business legally compliant.

Loiza has a broad understanding of effective training solutions across all industries and specialises in developing in-house processes and development strategies for organisational change. With the understanding that every business is unique, Loiza works with every client to provide a practical bespoke and robust L&D solution which promotes innovation over imitation to achieve a realistic and successful result.

Dr Meng Aw-Yong B.Sc, MB.BS, DFMS, MFFLM, DFMB

Medical Director

Dr Meng Aw-Yong qualified from  Charing Cross & Westminster Medical school in 1991 and since then has gained Diploma’s in Forensic Medicine and Bioethics and Forensic Medical Science (Society of Apothecaries), BSc (Hons) Psychology Upper Second Class Honours, MB.BS and has is in the process of gaining his MA. Dr Aw- Yong is currently working out of a large London hospital within their Emergency Department and on call for the local Police service. As well as giving his free time to voluntary services. Dr Aw-Yong teachers ATLS, BLS, MIMMS and First Aid within Hospital, GP Practises and the voluntary sector.  He has also co-authored books such as ‘So you want to be a brain surgeon’, First Aid Manual 9th Edition and had Articles and TV features.

Dr Aw-Young sits on Councils and Chairs group over the Pre-Hospital care sector and acts as an advisor for variety of groups.

Toni Owen

Senior Training Instructor

Toni Owen fills the position of Senior Instructor within the Training Department at DHL. Toni has worked within the Private & Voluntary Ambulance Services at varying responsibility levels. Toni leads, and is supported by a committed and professional team of clinical tutors all of whom have or are serving within the NHS. These tutors bring with them a wealth of personal experience, across a broad spectrum of pre-hospital care settings, which brings to life and enhance the learning experience at whatever level you are being taught.

Joanne Allsey

Training Solutions Administrator

Joanne has come from a Health and Safety Administration background and joined Training Solutions in April 2010. In Joanne’s previous role she implemented and managed a Business Contingency Management systems for a Hospital Logistics Centre. This project allowed Joanne to discover the importance of contingency planning by encouraging staff and managers to be aware of vulnerable areas of an organisation

Derek Ell

Training Instructor

Derek began his career in DHL in 2004 where he was originally a Patient Transport Driver. Derek has furthered his career each and every year to fulfill his position as a Training Instructor with professionalism and accuracy. Derek has been a training instructor with DHL Training Solutions for 5 years and in his free time works as an Emergency Medical Technician in order to share real life experiences with his trainees.

Derek holds a City & Guilds, Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), and an Institute of Advanced motoring training qualification, has designed a number of Fire Awareness & Fire Warden courses which are hugely popular and endorsed by the Institute of Fire Engineers, of which he is also a member.

It gives Derek great sense of achievement knowing that he has helped people stay safe and looks forward to meeting you on one of his courses.

Michael Allsey

Health & Safety Instructor and Consultant

After many years experience in ambulance services, Mike joined DHL (then Exel Logistics) thirteen years ago and has been working exclusively in the Healthcare business unit. His DHL career to date has been totally health, safety and training based, primarily on NHS Trust contracts. Mike has also been involved as the lead safety practitioner on a number of implementations including the Baxter Healthcare & various PTS contracts.

He has led operations to RoSPA Gold Awards in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 & the RoSPA Gold Medal for achieving 5 successive years of gold standard in 2010, as well as two British Safety Council International Awards for our Patient Transport Service & many internal safety awards.

Gina Cooke

Nursing Advisor

Gina Cooke completed her Nurse training out of Leicester University and was accepted straight out of University into the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Leicester Infirmary Hospital where she had doing placements. Gina spent 2 years working within this high pressure environment before leaving to come to London where she is now working in one of London’s busiest Emergency Departments. Whilst going through University Gina found time to voluntary for St John Ambulance where she has trained & works as an Emergency Transport Attendant. Many of her weekends have been spent assisting at Donnington race track as part of the medical team at large and small track events. Since being in London Gina assist in teaching at her local St John division and improving their basic skills as well as the pre-hospital ones.
